Has anyone had the bathroom fan cleaned?  How to go about it?  Any suggestions, ideas?

Ours seem to have stopped operating, though there is a slight whirring sound when switched on, but I think it should be doing more than slightly whirring...  Looking at the grill in the ceiling it does look a bit furred up, if you know what I mean.

Any help / direction / guidance would be most helpful.

Thanks

Our fan stopped working. Sparky had to replace the "motor" (burnt out); cleaned the fuzz at the same time.

You can turn the speed up.  There is a physical switch for 4 speeds.  The original switch is too slow.  Switch 3 is too powerful.  I use switch 2 and it does work fine.  It would appear that speed 1 is too slow and weak.

Mine is just an on / off switch below the light switch - this is the bathroom fan to which I am referring.  As the bathrooms are 'inside' the building with no outside ventilation (i.e. no open small window like in the store room) I think it important that it works efficiently.

Can anyone suggest a reliable technician?  Preferably one you have used yourself as personal recommendation is the only reliable and best source for help these days.

Thanks.

We always call the landlord to fix stuff like this (and pay for it). She said she uses a company on the MO list--she has no complaints--they've fixed the fan, toilet and aircons.....

Try this guy. He is licensed living in CC and doing freelance for neighbors. Lots of CC residents like to ask him to fix and clean AC/bathroom fan. Free ck up and reasonable price. Highly recommended!!

If we are talking about the same thing, in my unit there are 2 switched outside the en-suite and the otjer bathroom, the upper switch operates the light and the lower switch operates the fan...

Interesting that you seem to have such a basic problem that can not be resolved.

Can anyone recommend a reliable contractor?

Thanks a lot.

Fan is usually very reliable and not susceptible to technical problems for very long time. The possibility may also be the connection at the switch was not properly done. One time my light went out and would not turn on even if I changed the lightbulb because of this. Make sure you turn off the main switch before openning the switch cover.
